17 Million view Colorado pot story on 60 Minutes

More than 17 million people watched as “60 Minutes” featured a lengthy pot-based segment during Sunday’s episode. Now, a new web-extra segment explores the new tourism industry in Colorado, taking viewers to a party featuring a menu of marijuana-infused food and drink along with a tour bus offering “a smoke and ride tour of Denver.” They even stop by “Bud & Breakfast” — a new Denver inn that’s making the most of the rise of marijuana tourism.

“In all of our lives, in all of our experiences, marijuana, except in some instances for medical marijuana, marijuana has been illegal. You go to Colorado now and it is everything you thought about it is turned upside-down. It’s legal. It’s mind-blowing,” said “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker.

It should be noted that Sunday’s NFL Divisional Playoff game between the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos aired directly before “60 Minutes” in many markets, helping the rating.

I played a role as one of the two Directors of Photography on the story, and I’m glad to see it got an excellent audience.
